As the media regurgitates Thursday’s announcement by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services declaring, “more than 6 million Americans have signed up for coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace”, crucial questions remain unanswered. Hidden in this statement is the creation of an illusion disguised as the truth within a false narrative that equates 6 million sign-up’s to mean 6 million enrolled.
The White House used the (CMS) statement as statistical proof that the health law is working stating, “the affordable care act has brought affordable health coverage to Americans”, all 6 million of them. This isn’t the reality, it is merely a reflection of the politics in the Obama adminstration that successfully trumps policy which detracts from the truth.
The truth being that 6 million sign-up’s remains completely irrelevant until logical questions can be answered. Two simple questions that most analysts are focused on now regarding the “6 million statement” pertain to what should be common sense. Avik Roy of Forbes phrases these questions in their most simplistic form.
Roy states, “First, how many of those signing up have paid their first month’s premium, thereby activating coverage? And second: How many of those with coverage were previously uninsured? At this point, we have no definitive answers”. The importance of the answers to these two simple questions cannot be stressed enough.
The first, if answered, would shed light on the actual amount of people who have purchased health insurance. The second, if answered, would give credence to the reasoning behind Obamacare and why it was written in the first place. Unfortunately, answering questions such as these remains an impossible task given the numerous examples of the outright lawless nature of the Obama adminstration.
In a brief history of Obamacare delays one can begin to understand why Obamacare sign-up’s are nothing more than mere illusion’s. These illusions persist as the the President consistently goes about unilaterally delaying his signature law on 29 different occasions for outright political reasons. Our legal system becomes secondary, the truth nonexistent.
Take for instance the latest delay and how it applies to detracting from the truth. On Tuesday evening the Obama adminstration decided to extend the March 31st deadline in order to accommodate certain Americans who were unable to do so based upon certain “grievances”. Under the new rules, writes the Washington Post, “people will be able to qualify for an extension by checking a blue box on HealthCare.gov to indicate that they tried to enroll before the deadline”.
Furthermore, “this method will rely on an honor system; the government will not try to determine whether the person is telling the truth”. This statement alone shows just how delusional the Obama adminstration has become with their perception of how the law won’t be enforced. They are essentially proclaiming that the “honor system” has precedent over the legal system in the United States because the government won’t attempt to determine who was and wasn’t being truthful. It simply doesn’t matter.
So when the media and the liberal talking heads pump up their rhetoric over Obamacare and its success, remember their talking points have no factual basis. When you hear in the coming days the White House announce the success of millions signing up, realize this is an illusion perpetrated by the adminstration hoping you don’t notice their sleight of hand.
